The old Republican Party needs to be rebuilt according to Sen. Josh Hawley.

The old party is no longer alive. It's time for it to be buried. "Contribute to something new."

It wasn't the first time the senator had bad things to say about his own party. He said that "Washington Republicanism lost big" in the elections, with the GOP making mistakes on policies like gun control.

What are Republicans going to do for people who work? Tougher tariffs on China, reshoring American jobs, opening up American energy, 100k new cops on the street, that's what I want to start with. He wrote on the social networking site.

If Republicans want to win, they need an actual agenda.

It's not clear who he sees as part of the old party, but he's a strong supporter of Trump, and he doesn't side with McConnell.

In an interview with Real Clear Politics on Friday, Hawley claimed that the GOP leadership was to blame for the party's failures. He said he wouldn't vote for McConnell to be the GOP leader even if the Republicans won the Senate. Representatives for McConnell did not reply immediately.

Rick Scott, the chairman of the GOP's campaign arm, may challenge McConnell for his leadership position. According to CNN, Trump is calling for McConnell's removal and condemning him for the GOP's disappointing results.

He serves on four Senate committees, including panels on the judiciary, armed services, homeland security and governmental affairs. During the January 6 riot, he raised his fist in support of the pro- Trump protesters. When he announced his plan to object to the 2020 election results, he was the first senator to break with McConnell.

He is in the process of forging his own path in the Senate. He supported a fellow Trump supporter in the Ohio Senate race.

In Arizona, Hawley supported the man. The Democrats were able to retain their majority in the upper chamber by defeating Masters.
