The country's largest airport this week unveiled a massive new indoor, natural light-filled forest that will serve as a new, central concourse. It's a spectacle you'll notice the next time you travel through the airport, which is a key international hub for Oneworld alliance members.
The airport celebrated the opening of The Orchard, a 60,000 square foot rainforest-like area inside its central concourse terminal. As you can see, the space is illuminated by the sun.
The new space is part of a larger project at the airport. Additional gates, improved baggage and expanded cargo facilities are just some of the infrastructure improvements that have been made.
New lounges and a second hotel are part of the expansion of the airport. The business lounge will overlook the gardens.
There are 300 trees and 25,000 plants from all over the world under the glass roof of The Orchard, which is seen as a focal point of this expansion. The tree is more than 50 feet tall. There is a large water feature indoors.
It is possible that the memories of an airport in another part of the world will come to mind. The Jewel at Singapore Changi Airport is similar to The Orchard in that it has an expansive forest and water feature.

The expansion is expected to increase passenger capacity at the airport from 40 million to 58 million annually.
Plans for additional gates, concourse space and airside rapid transit are included in future construction. It is believed that the airport will grow to as much as 70 million in the future.
The airport's role as a key hub for passengers traveling to other parts of the world is considered by these expansion projects as well.
