Young Shaggy and Scooby-Doo in 2020's Scoob!

The early days of Warner Bros. being acquired by Discovery saw the cancellation of two films, Batgirl and Scoob! The holidays are a holiday haunt. WB Discovery tried to cut costs by killing both films at the same time, but Batgirl's sudden end overwhelmed the discussion. Even though WB Discovery was trying to start a new era of DC films, the crew for Scoob! continued to make the film, and it only wrapped up on November 4th.

Michael Kurinsky spoke to Variety about the final days of Holiday Haunt, his directorial debut. He explained that he was in a meeting working on the film when he was told of the cancellation via a social media platform. The people that we talked to on the phone explained what was happening. We can't monetize it because we're taking a tax write-off. It was explained to me that way.

The film had a tight deadline before the film was canceled. The crew was told that the film had to be done in time for the December 22nd release. The production was already paid for, so it was more practical than defiance, according to Kurinsky. I believe it was more about finishing the movie because we paid for it.

The teenage version of Mystery Inc. would go on a Christmas trip to meet Fred's uncle, Ned, just a few months after the 2020 film opens. It was described as a mystery to solve at Ned's holiday resort by the voice cast. It was a dream come true for him and co- director Bill Haller, who both credit the Scooby franchise with inspiring them to pursue careers in animation.

Two years of his life suddenly cut out from under him, and the complicated feelings he had while keeping production going along, were some of the candid things thatKurinsky said. He admitted to being torn up at times, saying "That I got to realize so many goals in my life, and then to not have it come out is incredibly disappointing."

He said he would go through the experience again if it helped him grow as a film maker. There are people who have worked on it and people who have seen it. Even though it doesn't have a chance of coming out, they still worked like it was coming out. One day, I hope everyone can hear this movie.
