Nancy Pelosi said on Sunday that the Republican response to the attack on her husband may have cost them votes in the upcoming elections.

On CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday, the speaker said that the attack was traumatic for her family and that she was the target.

The attack wasn't the only thing that happened. The Republican reaction was "disgraceful" according to Pelosi. There's no one disassociating themselves from the horrible response that the Republicans gave to it.

Donald Trump Jr., Glenn Youngkin, and other Republicans made jokes about the assault. He later said he apologized to Pelosi.

According to Pelosi, the GOP response to her husband's assault turned voters off. Pelosi said that they told her so when Dana Bash asked the question.

The Speaker's husband was hit in the head with a hammer by a man who said he was looking for the Speaker. Paul Pelosi was in the hospital for six days after he was attacked.

Pelosi said on Sunday that each day took them closer to recovery. It's a long haul, but he's doing well, comforted by the good wishes and especially the prayers of so many people.
