Texas is finally home to one of the world's biggest cruise ships

The world's biggest cruise ships can be found in Florida and New Jersey, as well as in other states.

Texas now has one as well.

Royal Caribbean's giant Allure of the Seas, one of five vessels in the record-breaking series, will begin weekly Caribbean sailings out of Texas today.

The massive vessel, which can hold up to 6,780 passengers, will travel to ports in Honduras and Mexico.

The Allure of the Seas was supposed to start sailing out of Galveston in 2020. The arrival of its in the Lone Star State was delayed because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The opening of a new $100 million cruise ship terminal in Galveston was put on hold during the Pandemic because of the new ship.

The only ship that can be handled at the Port of Galveston is Allure of the Seas.

Allure of the Seas is the fifth largest ship in the world. In size, it is the smallest of Royal Caribbean's four Oasis-class vessels.

The five vessels are at least 4% larger than any other ship afloat. Wonder of the Seas is the size leader in the cruise world.

The arrival of Allure of the Seas in Texas is a big deal for cruising from the state. The Liberty of the Seas is the largest cruise ship that has ever sailed out of a Texas port, with 3,798 passengers.

Until now, Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class ships have mostly sailed out of the major Florida cruise hubs such as PortMiami and Fort Lauderdale's Port Everglades.

The new terminal at the Port of Galveston and the deployment of Allure of the Seas would allow Royal Caribbean to increase its passenger count by 50%.

cruising out of Galveston had been booming prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The number of cruise passengers that passed through the port increased from five years ago. The number of cruise calls increased from 181 to 300.

The fourth-busiest port for cruises in North America is the Port of Galveston.

Royal Caribbean cabins and suites have a lot to offer.

The Oasis-class ships are full of more deck-top attractions and interior lounges, bars, restaurants and showrooms than any other ship.

Allure of the Seas has three main pool areas, an outdoor lounge area, an ice skating rink, a basketball court, and a mall-like indoor.

One of the biggest showrooms at sea can be found in the Central Park area, which is an open-air, tree-lined area.

Royal Caribbean has a loyalty program.

Allure of the Seas will most likely operate seven-night Western Caribbean itineraries through October 23, 2023. It will switch to three and four night sailings after that.
