Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer promised on Saturday that the Senate would continue to confirm Biden's nominees for federal judgeships at a steady clip.

If the upper chamber stays divided, Democrats will still face hurdles in getting judicial nominees confirmed because committees will likely have equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans, meaning some GOP support will be required.

If a Supreme Court seat becomes vacant, Democrats will be able to approve Biden's pick with a simple majority vote.

Senate confirmation is required for about 1,200 government roles, including cabinet officials and ambassadors, and while the Senate has confirmed 465 Biden nominees thus far according to the Washington Post and the partnership for public service.

If Republicans gain majority control in the House, it will be harder to pass legislation because the Senate may refuse to sign off on bills passed by a GOP majority.

Raising the debt ceiling is likely to be difficult if Republicans win the House and Democrats retain control of the Senate.

Some investigations are already underway, including a Hunter Biden probe, but Republicans had floated the idea of renewing investigations into Biden and his family.

Even if one Senate Democrat votes no, Democrats would still be able to pass legislation and confirm nominees.
