The city of Kherson fell to the Russians. Ukrainians celebrated over the weekend that the Russian troops have left.

Russian forces in Kherson were ordered to retreat across the Dnieper River by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in an announcement made on November 9.

Photos of happy and joyous Ukrainians embracing soldiers and one another have flooded social media since the announcement.

In a video posted by the Ukrainian defense ministry, a woman digs up a flag that appears to have been hidden when Putin's troops seized the city.

She unwrapping protective plastic waves the flag.
