FTX failed to get emergency funding and filed for Chapter 11. Bankman-Fried admitted he failed to properly assess the company's debt and resigned as CEO.

FTX announced early Saturday morning that it was investigating a potential hack related to abnormal withdrawals. According to the Financial Times, FTX had only $900 million in sellable assets.

Bankman-Fried denied in a text message to the news agency that he was in the Bahamas, as reported over the weekend.

He didn't reply if he was in Argentina.

FTX did not comment on the police investigation.
