Inside the EarthCruiser Terranova
  • The Terranova is a $350,000 overlanding RV.

  • There is significant demand for this model.

  • The Terra Nova was the most luxurious vehicle I've ever been in.

I spent a night in the Terra Nova.

The EC Terranova

I had never done an overnight in a vehicle.

Inside the EarthCruiser Terranova

It was one of the most luxurious travel accommodations I have ever stayed in.

The overlanders are not a typical recreational vehicle.

The beefed up RVs are designed to take a lot of punishment.

These tiny homes on wheels have additions like upgraded suspension systems and tow bars that make them ideal for off-road and remote life.

If you think campgrounds and RV resorts are too crowded...

A normal vehicle can't travel to destinations on the overland route.

Travelers looking for luxurious yetdurable vehicles that can sustain life in the middle of nowhere have been attracted to EarthCruiser.

I've always been a fan of camping andglamping, but I've never been able to try out the overlanding lifestyle until I was invited to visit EarthCruiser's headquarters.

There was a lot of interest in RV companies during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

This interest has not stopped for EarthCruiser.

Since it first introduced the large overlander, the company has seen significant demand.

I saw why overlanders have been drawn to the build after spending a night on the home on wheels.

It might not have been the best decision to start with an Earth Cruiser.

The Terranova exceeded all of my expectations, and it was unbelievably comfortable.

I don't think many future RV and overlanding vehicles will be able to match the spaciousness of the home on wheels.

I used to stay at two AutoCamps, a wildly popular luxury campground, where I could spend a night in an RV.

That experience is not as good as true RVing.

There was a kitchen large enough for two home cooks in my hotel room.

The Airstreams were more like a hotel room than a real RV.

That's how I felt when I spent a night in the Terra Nova.

Since 2020, I've been writing about the overlanders.

As an overlanding newcomer who did extensive research on EarthCruiser, I was sure I knew what to expect.

All my years of writing about the company did not prepare me for what I saw when I first looked at the vehicle.

It may not seem like a large home.

When the pop-top roof was engaged, the Terra nova felt spacious for what it was: a home atop a Ford F350.

The vehicle could've accommodated another adult, but I had the whole Terra nova to myself.

Four people were sleeping on the beds.

A tight squeeze might have been the case.

The layout of the vehicle made it seem like a studio apartment.

The bedroom and living room were separated by the bathroom.

I didn't find myself short on space as I moved around.

It was the perfect multi-purpose living room due to the leather seats.

If I were working on the road, these seats and table would make a great remote office.

The cushions weren't put into the seats.

Several of the cushions were thrown out of place during my one-hour drive to the remote campsite, but luckily, it was nothing too inconvenient to put back into place.

I didn't need to test this feature because this could have been a second bed.

I had my own bed in the back of the overlanders.

The bed was very tall. The retractable steps made it easier to access.

I'm able to change my mind. I climbed my way up because I was so lazy.

There were great views out the windows of the overlander from this high up.

The ceiling was too small for me to stand up straight. I didn't have to worry about the overhead clearance since I had more than enough room to sit up.

There was no need to climb in and out of bed to check my phone in this lofted bed.

It was surprisingly comfortable for a bed on the road to have a mattress like the one I have at home.

I did not wake up with an ache in my back.

I couldn't get the heating to turn on properly despite a previous tour from EarthCruiser's friendly customer experience manager.

I made a terrible mistake when I didn't zip up the privacy screens on the windows before I went to sleep.

I didn't realize this until I woke up with cold feet in the middle of the cold Oregon night, but the vehicle's foam insulation helped keep me warm.

Sleeping in the Terranova was more comfortable than I had experienced in the past.

Two adults could prepare a meal in the large kitchen that separated the bed from the dinette.

It was roughly the same size as the trailer I had at AutoCamp.

I had an electric stove inside the Terra Nova.

I washed my face and brushed my teeth in the deep sink before going to sleep.

All loose items had to be secured before they could hit the road.

The addition of a drinking water faucet was a convenient and well-thought-out detail that was only thought of by long time overlanders.

I didn't have to cook a meal.

The counter is long and shaped like a L.

The fridge and freezer can be slid out.

It would be easy to prepare a meal in the middle of nowhere.

The kitchen unit had several drawers to hold cookware, utensils, and dry goods.

The countertop by the base of the bed had a number of drawers.

Looking for storage felt like a game of espionage.

Some of the drawers and cabinets were hidden in the floor.

The trash can is located in the kitchen.

There is more space under the seat cushions.

The Terranova had a makeshift bathroom.

The bathroom is in most of the photos.

The bathroom was hidden in a storage unit behind the kitchen and in front of the door.

The bathroom was so hard to find that it only had a plastic toilet paper roll cover.

The room in the bathroom was made of wood.

There was a toilet on this floor.

If I wanted to take a shower, I could have either done it outside or extended the shower curtain around the wood panels to make a makeshift shower stall.

I assumed the toilet on my Terranova was more comfortable than my alternative because it wasn't working during my stay.

The Terra Nova had a hidden bathroom and four wheels.

It had a control panel.

Water and power are important when you are in the middle of nowhere.

The features need to be turned off when not in use.

The control panel kept all of the buttons in one place.

It was more convenient that way.

This was one of the small touches of luxurious and thoughtful design elements.

When the front door was open, the staircase automatically lowered.

The pop-top roof was easy to raise and lower by pressing a button.

It's easy to see how appealing overlanding vehicles are after a night in the EarthCruiser.

Terranova is a workhorse that makes it possible for travelers to vacation and adventure where most RVers can't go.

It's refreshing to wake up to fresh air and a view of nature instead of seeing other RV's at an RV resort.

The Terranova had everything a person would need for a comfortable life on the road.

Adding a kitchen, bathroom, climate control, and comfortable bed made me like it more than a sleeping bag and tent.

The Terra Nova is a studio apartment with less space and four wheels.

It is a high end way to travel.

I empathise with overlanders who are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for their own EarthCruiser.

I would consider buying a Terranova for myself if I had more money to spare. I will stay in my less expensive apartment for now.
