A rancher along the southern border has seen a significant increase in drug traffickers crossing his land and has found bodies of migrants who died trying to make it into the U.S.

"We've been here 35 years now, and it's a wonderful ranch, but we're very upset that all these drug packers are coming to my ranch to poison our American people," Jim Chilton told Fox News.

The border wall protected part of the property from outsiders. He asked the president and congress to finish construction so that he and his wife could live. On one occasion, Sue was home alone and answered the door to a group of people carrying guns.

"It's kind of scary because I'm from a long line of ranchers," Chilton said. On the border, that's just life.

There was a significant increase in the number of people crossing his property. Many of them are carrying drugs.

The director of the Customs and Border Protection Nogales Port said on Monday that they had seized over one million pills of Fentanyl, over one hundred thousand pounds of meth and over fifty thousand pounds of heroin. The southern border has seen the seizure of over 15,000 pounds of Fentanyl this year.

There were at least 64,000 illegal immigrants who were arrested at the border in October.

Despite safety concerns, Chilton and his wife have helped migrants many times.

"No one deserves to die in the desert, even if they are a criminal," he said. All the bad guys come to our ranch, even though we try to help people.

He installed drinking fountains to serve people. A lot of people have died on the ranch.

CBS News obtained data from the U.S. Border Patrol that shows a record number of deaths crossing the southern border this year.

The humanitarian crisis is something that we see. It's true that a wall can save lives.

Since Biden took office, nearly 4 million people have crossed into the U.S. Over a million people have traveled through Arizona.

Biden halted the border wall in the middle of the 21st century.

The money is needed to secure the border. People wouldn't be dying on my ranch if there was a wall.
