The air show in Dallas was turned into a scene of horror after two World War II-era airplanes collided in midair.

The Federal Aviation Administration didn't know how many people were on the two planes when they crashed. The Wings Over Dallas air show takes place at Dallas Executive Airport, which is about 10 miles south of downtown Dallas.

Videos posted online appeared to show a fast plane slamming into a larger plane as horrified onlookers looked on.

The Kingcobra was a single-pilot fighter and the Flying Fortress was a bomber airplane that could carry a crew of 10 or 11 people.

It's rare to have either aircraft in flying condition. He said there were less than a few in that condition.

He said it was heartbreaking for him to hear it on a human level.

The crash will be investigated by the F.A.A.

There were no reported injuries to spectators or those on the ground according to the mayor. He didn't know much about the crash or what happened.

There was a fatal crash of a B17 bomber in 2019. A Flying Fortress that took off from Bradley International Airport in Connecticut crashed into a de-icing facility, killing seven people. Pilot error and inadequate maintenance were found to be factors in the crash.

Christopher Kratovil, a lawyer in Dallas, took his daughter to watch the air show on Saturday. Mr. Kratovil's father took him to air shows when he was a child.

He said it was amazing to see the aircraft in action after reading about them in a book.

He said there were several aircraft flying at the same time, a mix of bomber and fighter aircraft. A narrator described the significance of the aircraft and patriotic music played in the background.

The Flying Fortress appeared to be doing a flyby near the crowd in order to get the attention of the attendees.

He initially thought it could be fireworks, but realized there was no way to do them midair. There were fireballs and a loud crash after the wing of the B17 fell off.

All of a sudden, I realized this is real. He said you're watching a crash. I witnessed a horrible thing to see with my child.
