Lawyers for Andrew Gillum, the Democratic nominee for governor in Florida, are demanding a court hearing to investigate Donald Trump's claim that he interfered in the ballot count.
The ex-president wrote on his Truth Social platform that he sent in the FBI and Justice Department to stop the vote tabulation in order to stop the race from being lost.
The ballot theft immediately ended after I sent in the FBI and the U.S. Attorneys, Trump claimed.
His election was stopped by me.
Attorneys pounced on the information.
There are serious questions about what Trump ordered the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office to do and whether there is any connection to the investigation of Gillum.
Gillum was hit with federal public corruption charges over donations to his campaign. According to his attorneys, Trump's claims of intervention in the ballot count suggest a scheme against the one-time rival.
There is no evidence that Trump was lying.
The former president's claims were flatly untrue.
Ivan Castro, a spokesman for the county supervisor of elections, said in a statement that there was no federal law enforcement presence during the election. There is no evidence of corruption during the election season in the county.
The two men are seen as potential rivals in the next Republican presidential primary. Trump came up with the nickname "Ron DeSanctimonious" for his possible competitor, and Roger Stone, a Trump ally, has tried to portray Ron DeSanctimonious as ungrateful for Trump's support during his election campaign.
The former president did not comment on the post.
