Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving will not play in the team's game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday as he continues to serve a team imposed suspension, according to the team's coach.

Irving was suspended for a minimum of five games for his conduct, which was related to social media posts around a book and movie. Saturday will be the fifth game of the suspension.

"I am aware that Irving is not available on Sunday," he said before the game. I have been made aware of that. I can offer you that.

During this four-game Western Conference trip that ends Thursday at Portland, there isn't much of a chance for Irving to return, according to sources. The Nets play their next game at home against Memphis.

Irving has been in contact with some teammates, but he is not sure when he will return.

As part of his return to the team, Irving followed the steps outlined. Meeting with Jewish leaders was one of the steps taken.

He met with NBA commissioner Adam Silver this week as well as Nets owner Joe Tsai, who said on Friday that it's clear to him that Irving does not have any beliefs of hate towards Jews or any group.

After Friday's practice, players expressed optimism that Irving might return soon, but Vaughn made it clear that there was no timetable for his return.

The statement was put out by Joe on Friday. It shows the alignment and collaboration that's happening right now. There is no update on a timetable.
