According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Chicago Cubs are one of the most active teams in the market for the position.

In each of the past two years, the Cubs have struggled. The team made the playoffs in five of six years and won the World Series for the first time in over 100 years.

The Cubs dismantled their World Series core and spent a lot less recently. The team's opening day payroll was third in the country, but fell to 14th in the next five years.

If the Cubs want to contend again, they may be interested in spending to do so.

On Thursday, Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors predicted contracts for the top 50 free agents, and he had all four of them get paid. Over the course of nine years, Correa topped the list with a total of $288 million. Three of the four writers thought he would join the Cubs.

It's possible that Hoerner will move to second base if the Cubs add a big-name infielder. Hoerner was the leader of the team in WAR. He's 25 years old and should be a leader.

The Cubs are in danger of losing catcher Willson Contreras, a free agent who finished second on the team with 22 home runs, and they need more power in the lineup. In terms of home runs, Chicago was ninth in the National League and 10th in the country.

The players could help in that regard. Swanson had 25 homers with a.776 OPS in 161 games, while Correa and Turner had 21 and 20 homers, respectively.

The Cubs will be watching as the free agents decide on their destinations.
