Stephen Curry paid tribute to Azzi Fudd, a teammate at the University of Connecticut, after he dropped 40 points for the Golden State Warriors.

Curry wore Fudd's jersey to his news conference after the win. Fudd celebrated her 20th birthday on Friday, a day after she scored 26 points in the season opener.

Steph is rocking a UConn Azzi Fudd jersey, still supporting women's sports as always. Went to Stanford women's basketball Wednesday.

Curry wanted to shout her out. "Basketball is basketball and continuing to do our part to shine a light and celebrate those women who are doing amazing things on the court"

Curry sat courtside at the Maples Pavilion to watch Brink, a family friend, play for the Cardinal.

The Curry-Fudd connection has been going on for a long time. Curry invited her to a select camp at 15. She stood out for her shooting skills.

Curry said that she could go full speed and stop on a dime. She has more of a textbook jumper than any other person. Klay Thompson might be with Azzi Fudd. Ray Allen, Klay Thompson and Azzi Fudd are textbooks. You could teach someone how to shoot.

Fudd signed a deal with Curry's organization in December that involved a mentorship component from Curry himself.

Curry gave Fudd a shout out on the internet after she sank nine 3-pointers in a game.

Fudd's next game is on Monday as the 6th ranked Connecticut take on the 3rd ranked Texas.
