After double checking that it was the official account, everyone was surprised that it was a tease for a movie. There was speculation that Disney persuaded Hayao Miyazaki to do a short for the film. Is this a film to be added to the studio's collection? The answer at the end of it all was a short film.
Disney+ released Zen - Grogu & the Dust Bunnies this morning in celebration of their three year anniversary. The title says everything you need to know about the star of Star Wars' flagship series, The Mandalorian, who is menaced by some dust bunnies before eventually making nice with them. There is no show of Grogu's Force powers in the upcoming third season of the show. The little guy is hanging out with other little guys.
Grogu is still worth watching despite the disappointing news. Katsuya Kond brings the character's innocence to life with his work. Kond was able to make the little green guy cuter with a hand-drawn animation style. It feels like something that would be made by a child that is a fan of Grogu, thanks to the score from Ludwig Gransson.
This is just a test run and it is possible that Ghibli has been brought on by Lucasfilm to do something Star Wars related more substantial in the future. Grogu & the Dust Bunnies is worth watching on Saturdays.
