An as-told-to essay was written based on a conversation with a young woman at a golf course. For clarity, the following has been edited.

I moved to Las Vegas because I wanted to stay and work at trade shows.

I was out of a job because of the swine flu. Someone told me about this gig and I was desperate. I needed a job so I took it and it changed my life.

In Vegas there isn't much grass or wildlife, so I fell in love with the job immediately. There were palm trees and animals on the golf course. It made me a better person.

About a year into working as a cart girl, I started putting videos on TikTok

I got my friend a job with me because she was out of a job. She wanted me to teach her how to dance. I initially said that we couldn't do this at work. She wanted us to do them on her account because we look cute.

I thought I should post on my account as well. I made a cart-girl video, but it didn't get a lot of views. I did a story time post after the golfer made me angry. I didn't check my TikTok but I was wondering why my followers were going up so quickly.

My video was getting a lot of attention. I was scared when it got to 100,000 views. I thought it was crazy when it got to a million views. Each day I made a video about my job.

I've grown my TikTok to 1.8 million followers and 45 million likes, and now I get a lot of offers to work with brands

I don't do a lot because I want my videos to be more about me. I didn't believe it at first, but I have worked with the biggest brand I have ever worked with. Why would he be interested in working with me? They followed through and it was legit.

A lot of smaller golf companies want to send me some of their clothing to promote, and I try to help them out from time to time.

The tips are pretty great: I usually make between $400 and $500 a day on top of my salary

I had one $60 day in the winter when it was cold and we all left early. The four guys gave me $1,000.

I usually work four days a week. I try to work as much as I can for anyone who needs me.

Minimum wage in Nevada was $9 an hour when I first started working. Other courses reached out to me after I used TikTok. The owner of the golf course that I work at asked me if I wanted to be on a contract, so I signed on and earned a salary.

There are guys that come to my course to see me or recognize me once they're out there, and they always want pictures

A lot of people ask me for selfies. The younger crowd always want pictures, and some days there will be a younger crowd.

They don't usually ask for pictures if it's just my locals. I noticed a man was taking a picture of me when I got a drink from him. I asked if you wanted a picture. It would be cute if I posed.

People from all over the country ask if I can work at their golf course. I haven't taken up any yet because it's been so busy, but maybe one day I will.

I got the chance to work as a cart girl at Electric Daisy Carnival because of my TikTok. It was a great experience.

On a typical day, I usually wake up at 5:30 a.m. If we have early tournaments, I have to be up by 4:30 a.m.

I choose a cute outfit for a guy who is going to be playing that day. I wore black and silver because of the Las Vegas Raiders fan club. I look different each day because I invest in my outfits and add accessories.

I usually start the day by drinking an energy drink. I have to get the cart ready before I go to the course. The part of the job that sucks the most is filling it with ice. You have a big tray of shots and other heavy things to put in the cart. If it's the hardest part of your job, you can't be upset.

I'll brew coffee and put it in the cart. Depending on where people are, I have to stop and replenish the cart if they have bought something. It's so hot that I have to return a lot for ice.

Sometimes I'll go into the freezer to take a break. If the golfers are still playing, I'll go back out and play until about 2 p.m.

At the end of the day, I have to wash the cart and put the money I made from sales into a bag. I keep the profits after the drinks sales, and I give them to my friends.

I do try out different outfits to see what gets the most tips

Sometimes I'll do a manly thing to see how it affects my tip, and other times I've tried different looks to see if they work. I try to wear outfits that are new to me.

The skirt is the winner. Some golf players are weird, but most seem to like it because it's not what people would wear out and about. It plays into the character of the golfer.

I love my job, but obviously, there are some downsides

A guy asked for a photo to impress his friends. He put his hand on my ass while we stood sideways. I said to him not to show them that one. I get over things quickly. It's annoying but not crazy.

It can get really hot. At least it's dry out here after the temperature yesterday was over 120 degrees. I'm not sure how I'd do this in humid weather. The cart gives you a lot of protection from the sun, but I also get a fair amount of tan.

I want to inspire other girls to get into this

You can start making money at a young age. It doesn't need a lot of experience.

I have changed my life since working as a golf cart girl. When I took this job, I was not in a good place. I saved up and bought the best car I could after a year and a half of work.

I'm driving around in a car because most people don't know that I do a small job.
