Rugby League World Cup: Was Australia-New Zealand semi-final the best game ever?

The Rugby League World Cup semi-finals between Australia and New Zealand had the makings of a classic, with top talent, intense rivalry, and a big prize at stake.

One of the best rugby league games I've ever seen was the Kangaroos' 16-14 win over the Rhinos.

He said it was an amazing performance by both sides.

New Zealand came into the tournament ranked number one in the world but have been far from their best in England and narrowly avoided a scare to beat Fiji in the quarter- finals.

There was no let-up in the intensity after the break as Australia fought back to take the lead and stifle the New Zealanders to reach the World Cup final.

"If you talk about rugby league as a product, I feel like we've just come across a new species," said ex-England second-rower Jamie Jones-Buchanan.

Jon said that Australia never gave him a chance to catch his breath. They increased their pace and tactical awareness when they realized they were tired. Their performance in the second half was special.

Australia was so clinical before the last 10 minutes. They did it many, many times.

'That's how we want it to be officiated'

It's been a good game when the ref is being praised. In the second half, tempers flared but Klein didn't send anyone to the sin-bin.

Jones-Buchanan thought he was great. The game was flowing and he didn't invite himself into it. The game was well-officiated.

Klein was born in Australia and has been a referee in the National Rugby League for more than a decade.

Hunter-Paul said that he was arguing that it should have been a neutral ref. He played a great game.

"If we're going to show people how we want the game to look, and how we want it to be looked at, show them that game."

I don't like to get entertained by rugby league games. I've seen that and I'm excited. The quality was great.
