In the inaugural "Sydney Super Cup", which will be held in November, the Toffees will travel all the way to Australia to play Celtic and the WesternSydneyWanderers. The World Cup break is basically the same as a pre-season tour, and the Toffees are taking advantage of the chance to play matches in a region where kick-off times don't coincide with the World Cup. Fans in Australia will be able to attend open training sessions.
Even though much of the focus will be on the World Cup, these friendly matches could attract viewers who are uneasy at the tournament being held inQatar, so could be more popular than they first think.
During the international break, most other clubs will have a number of friendly games. Crystal Palace will play a team from Brazil at Selhurst Park, while Wolves will play a team from Saudi Arabia at St. James' Park, as well as playing a team from Spain at St. James' Park.
The two teams are scheduled to play at the same place. A memorial match for the late Peter Whittingham will be hosted by Villareal while the club heads abroad for a training camp. Real Sociedad are going to play a game in England.
The fourth round of the Carabao Cup will take place in the week after the World Cup, and some teams may play a final friendly before the season starts. The players who played in the World Cup will not be involved in the Manchester City game.
