DreamUp is a text-to- image generator service powered by Stable Diffusion. The DeviantArt initiative that lets artists opt out of image training but also makes everyone's art opt in angered a lot of members.

DreamUp uses text to create art. DreamUp learned how to generate images by analyzing hundreds of millions of images from websites like DeviantArt and collected into LAION datasets without artists' permission, a potential irony that some Deviant Art members find problematic.

this is how dreamup is being developed. it adds training on non-opt-out artwork on top of the stability diffusion model, which is ALREADY trained using unethically sourced data. they CANT UNLEARN those parts.

Stable Diffusion's web-scraping nature caused a huge debate among artists that challenge the ethics of artificial intelligence. The art community has taken a hard stance against the creation of artificial intelligence.

DeviantArt is trying to appease artists who might be upset about their work being used to train artificial intelligence. Artists can use the "noai" flag on the site to opt out of third-party image data. Third-party image scrapers may or may not honor this flag.

Each artist needs to fill out a form that requires human review before they can opt out of DreamUp. Some DeviantArt members have threatened to remove their work from their accounts if the policy is not changed.

The DreamUp information page states that DeviantArt did not consent to third-party models being used to make their models work. The site tries to debunk myths about how artificial intelligence works.

Do you think about DreamUp itself? The service feels similar to a stable Diffusion model. Members of DeviantArt can get five free prompts to try it out, and they can also get more prompt credits if they subscribe to the various CORE plans.

If you download the Draw Things app on your phone, Stable Diffusion can be used for free.
