Ron DeSantis is favored by the American Firearms Association.
During and after his presidency, Trump cultivated support from 2nd amendment advocates.
As a result of his re- election victory, the stock of the Republican Party has risen.
The members of a far-right gun group have switched their loyalties to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is running for president in 2020.
According to a poll of its members, the American Firearms Association, Ron DeSantis is favored over Trump by a wide margin. The group said that the survey results were reversed in March.
The announcement came as Republicans blamed Trump for his poor performance in the election and praised him for his victory in the state of Florida. It is expected that Trump will announce his candidacy for the presidency.
Jonathan Allen of NBC News said that it doesn't matter if or how a poll was conducted. It's a signal to the hard right and Trump.
The poll doesn't seem to be related to science. On Thursday, the group posed the question to its followers, "Who do you support for President?"
Patrick Parsons, the group's executive vice president, wrote in a statement to Insider that "gun owners want a President who will fight to tear apart unconstitutional federal gun controls for almost 100 years." The preference of our members was different when we asked them eight months ago. Is that going to hold over the next eighteen months? We're going to see what happens.
It's noteworthy that Trump cultivated support from 2nd Amendment advocates during and after his presidency, including speaking at the National Rifle Association annual meeting in May just days after the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting.
Democrats tried to expand gun control in Florida, but they were rejected by the governor. You don't pay much attention to the crazy. He told reporters in June that he didn't think it was a good idea to cap the rights of law-abiding citizens.
The National Rifle Association looked like a knitting club when Allen said it was. The group said that truer words have never been said.
The Association is run by three brothers who claim to be political activists. The brothers are part of a circle of far-right activists who manage more than a dozen nonprofits.
Some of their biggest critics are from the pro-gun community.
The brothers were accused of being scam artists by the National Rifle Association.
