On Friday, Musk sent an email to all of the company's employees thanking them for their hard work since he took over.

Musk stayed at the headquarters office in San Francisco on Thursday night. Employees who survived last week's 50% reduction in workforce were invited to visit with him.

Users of the social network were able to pay to get a blue verified-subscriber check mark, but it appears that the service has been paused. Many users used the new subscriber badges to impersonate brands and famous people who used the original verification system.

Eli Lilly and Nintendo were among the brands that were impersonated.

The two current employees told CNBC that they were getting calls about the changes to the platform.

They had to balance user behavior, safety and revenue impact when making product changes, according to one person. The new approach that Musk is taking has caused a lot of concern among advertisers and the FTC.

The employees wanted more clarity about the company's new time off and return to office policies, as well as questions about the e-mail sent by Musk. Friday is a national holiday in the U.S., Veterans Day, and some workers did not expect to have to come in, while others are wondering if they still have approval to work from home. Two employees told CNBC that they have not been given formal guidance on how to work from home.

This week, Musk told employees that he was reversing the company's previous " work from home forever" policy, which had been enacted by his friend and co-worker, Jack Dorsey.

The e-mail from Musk to the employees was transcribed by CNBC.

There is a subj. Being There is a great film.

I wanted to say thank you to those who were with me, as well as those who were working remotely, some of whom had been up for even longer.

If you can't make it to the office but you are doing a great job, you can work remotely. I believe in the effectiveness of being physically in the same location.

I will be at work today. If you want to talk about taking Twitter to the next level, you can stop by the 10th Floor. Immediate action is the priority.

Thank you.
