Campobasso played in Serie B during the 1980s but have never been able to rescale those lofty heights.

The Italian Football Federation banned the Lupi from playing after they achieved promotion to Serie C at the end of the season. The club was forced to amalgamate with another local team in order to return to the football system. When they were purchased by the North Sixth Group, Campobasso were unsure if they could compete in 2022-23.

As minority investors, Ripa and Consuelos have all heard of an obscure European club.

Consuelos said that the Campobasso project is the epitome of an underestimation. I heard about the fans being at risk of losing the sport they love and I wanted to be part of the solution.

I am excited to support the growth of soccer in Kansas City because of the club's community oriented nature. Even though they were riding high in the MLS Western Conference, they fell away to finish third in the overall standing and miss out on the playoffs.
