shuri crying in the sunset

During the end credits, things change. Scenes during and after the credits have kept fans in the seats and teased what to expect. It was where we first met Nick Fury, where we first met Wanda, and where we were teased about CAPTAIN MARVEL. These are some of the most important scenes. We think the credits scene in Black Panther is the best we have ever seen.

Discussing this will mean hiding if you haven't seen the movie yet.

There is only one end credits scene in the movie. Picking up seconds after the film ends, we see Shuri crying on the beach in Haiti as she burns her funeral garb, signifying the end of mourning not just for her brother, but her mother as well. She comes to join her, but she is not the only one. A boy is with her. He is the son of T'Challa and Nakia, and he is named Toussaint. He's an heir to the throne.

Toussaint was hidden because T'Challa wanted him to grow up away from the throne. The queen met him at some point. Shuri is happy. She chats with her nephew, who is sharing a secret with her. "Toussaint" is only his Haitian name, according to him. He is named after his dad.

The implications of the scene are large once the waterworks stop. T'Challa has a son who will keep his family line going. It would set him up to be a new Black Panther or King of Wakanda. The scene is on the top of a mountain. The director bakes the reveal into the movie.

nakia on a beach.

It explains several dangling storylines and packs a big emotional punch. In the film, we don't know why T'Challa's significant other didn't show up for his funeral. We don't know why she left or how she felt about his death. This scene shows what happened. T'Challa wanted his son to stay out of the country. He told them he was sick, which he didn't do with anyone else. The revelation explains what Ramonda meant when she said "There's something I have to tell you about your brother" in the movie. It gives an explanation as to why Shuri was called at the beginning of the film.

Meeting the boy provides a more loving and deeper conclusion to the film as a whole. Shuri overcame her demons. Her brother would have done the same thing. She was afraid she might be like Killmonger. As she prepares to leave, her family gets bigger thanks to this little boy. What could have been a sad end to Shuri's life suddenly became hopeful.

There has been no end credits scene in the history of the Cinematic Universe that has done as well as this one has. That it is a huge surprise and so touching only adds to the reveal, and that the film ends with a dedication to Boseman is the cherry on top.

I think it's the best. There is a system called the Microprocessors. The end credits scene. It would never happen. Maybe we're not right. Maybe you don't agree with something. Let us know what you think.
