In the latest sign of growing animosity from the ex-president, Donald Trump lashed out against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Murdoch's media empire on Thursday.

In a lengthy statement, Trump took several shots at DeSantis, calling him "an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations," and once again took credit for his rise, saying that the then-congressman was "politically dead" in the year before he got a Trump endorsement

In terms of loyalty and class, that's really not the right answer.

Murdoch's brands, including Fox News, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post, are coordinating coverage to hurt Trump's chances of running for president in 2024, according to Trump.

The New York Post had an unflattering portrayal of the former president as "Trumpty Dumpty" on the cover on Thursday, a day after the Wall Street Journal ran a positive image of the candidate.

The former president gave the nickname "Governor Ron DeSanctimonious" to the Florida governor, who is a Trump loyalist, and Trump made a veiled threat against him Tuesday.

, I will tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering."

After Fox News called Arizona for President Joe Biden on election night in 2020 even as other outlets waited and Trump made claims of election fraud, the relationship between Murdoch and Trump has soured.

What To Watch For

Trump is expected to launch his presidential campaign on Tuesday.

Key Background

Many right-wing pundits blamed Trump's continued hold over the GOP for driving turnout against the GOP, calming an expected "red wave" into little more than a ripple. Republicans seem to be favorites to take the House, but many observers think the GOP will win less House seats than expected, and Trump-endorsed candidates like Mehmet Oz lost to Democrats. One of the few bright spots for Republicans on Tuesday was the victory of Ron DeSantis in the Florida governor's race. Suburban voters, women and the Hispanic community were key to the success of the Republican Party in the state. Republicans have been trying to flip Miami-Dade County, which is the most-populous county in the US, for years. Independents and moderate voters have been turned off by Trump's divisive attacks and personal baggage, and many conservative commentators believe that he is more acceptable to them. The governor is 44 years old and the president is 76.

Trump thinks it would be a mistake for DeSantis to run for president.

The biggest surprises from election night were not a red wave.

The GOP won a lot of seats in the mid-term election.
