The new Terminal A at Newark's Liberty International Airport is almost ready for its grand opening.

The first guests will be welcome at the terminal on Tuesday, November 15th. According to official invitations from the Port Authority of New York and Jersey, members of the media and other invitees are due to attend a ribbon cutting and unveil ceremony.

The construction work at Terminal A has been overseen by the Port Authority, which also manages the Newark Airport.

The agency's chairman, Kevin O'Toole, and executive director, Rick Cotton, are expected to attend the big unveil next week.

The Port Authority isn't sure when the doors to the public will open, according to a spokesman. With the Thanksgiving travel period beginning just a week after the grand opening ceremony, airport authorities are still evaluating when would be the best time to begin operations from the new terminal.

It is likely that Newark Terminal A will open in late November or early December, though the agency is sticking with a "by the end of the year" timetable.

The new terminal is more than one million square feet and will hold 33 gates once construction is completed.

The new concourse will feature 21 gates, as well as a host of passenger friendly amenities, such as four-lane pickup and dropoff curbs, a touchless security and boarding experience, and much more.

One of the lounges is slated to become a signature American Express lounge.

The Amex lounge will have a view of the Port of Newark, New York and Newark Harbor and the Manhattan skyline. There will be multiple food buffets and "world-class" restroom facilities as well.

The new Terminal A will have 33 gates, with 12 more coming online over the course of the next ten years. The new terminal is the largest investment in New Jersey by the Port Authority.

A partial opening of the parking garage facility is scheduled for the coming weeks and months.

Newark airport will get even more good news when Terminal A opens in a few weeks. The Port Authority shared late last month that it had selected a masterplanner to develop a plan for modernizing the airport.

Arup and SOM are charged with executing the plans for the redeveloped area. The Port Authority is serious about making changes to Newark's infrastructure.

There will be a first look at the new terminal at the grand opening ceremony.
