Evan Longoria will be a free agent after the San Francisco Giants declined their $13 million option on him. The Giants will buy out Longoria.

In 89 games for the Giants last season, the 37 year old hit.200 with 14 home runs and 42RBI.

Injuries kept him out of action for a long time. Last year, he dealt with a number of injuries.

One of the bright spots for the offense was the bat of Evan Longoria.

With the season winding down, Longoria gave some updates to reporters regarding his rehabilitation and his desire to play for the Giants next year.

Evan Longoria will be rehabbing for 4-6 weeks, he guesses, but he still wants to play next year. The Giants hold a $13 million option. Longoria said there are a couple of other places that could be intriguing in free agency but his preference is to be a Giant.

The Giants are moving on. After 10 seasons in Florida, the three-time All-Star was traded to the San Francisco Giants in December of last year.

The interest of numerous teams in the market for a third baseman should be stimulated by the efforts of Longoria.
