The new "Everyone for 10 Minutes" option for AirDrop in China limits the amount of time that users can receive files from strangers. Airdrop was used to spread anti-government material in the country.
"Receiving Off," "Contacts Only," and "everyone" are some of the options AirDrop has. When the "Everyone" option is selected, any other iPhone user within close proximity can attempt to send you a file over AirDrop, resulting in a pop-up on the screen with an option to accept or deny the file transfer. "Everyone for 10 minutes" is the new option in China. AirDrop will switch to the "contacts only" setting after this time.

The new AirDrop setting will be rolled out globally in the coming year in order to reduce file sharing. Since the feature's launch, some users have received inappropriate photos or been pranked by strangers via AirDrop, especially in crowded areas.
It's not clear when the setting will be available in additional countries or if Apple will allow users to modify the time limit in the future.
