Allison Hueman, the noted Oakland-based artist and muralist, could not believe the email she was reading in January 2021.

Are they actually asking me to do this? The man remembers thinking. I had to read it over and over again.

She said yes.

The man is a fan of the Warriors. She collaborated with Stephen Curry on a sneaker line that was infused with her spray-paint style. Both recalled that Jen Millet, the Warriors' chief marketing officer, said just to go for it. You have a lot of creativity.

Women's empowerment should be highlighted in the Warriors jersey. The team decided to change March from "Women's History Month" to "Women's Empowerment Month" and wanted the jersey to reflect that.

The name of the month seemed odd to us. It was like something out of "Little House on the Prairie". Let's figure out a new way to say it. The players liked telling stories about the women who helped shape them.

The movement was going strong. The vice president of the United States had just been sworn in. It was the right time for a women's empowerment-themed jersey.

One of the most radical jerseys in NBA history is centered around a yellow-gold rose that stretches from just under the center logo to the bottom edge.

The rose is drawn on paper. The small one in the center was the result of a vision that came into her head as she dreamed up the jersey. She imagined that the cables on the Bay Bridge would come back together to form a rose. There is a small version of that rose on the belt Buckle. The shorts have a golden trim.

The Paramount Theatre in Oakland is a nod to the Art Deco era. The colors were melded with the flower imagery.

She says the color scheme is masculine but the content is feminine. I try to balance them out. Not all women are soft, so I didn't want to make something soft.

The Warriors and Rakuten will be donating $25,000 to the Women's Sports Foundation.

Kobe Bryant's "Black Mamba" nickname inspired the Los Angeles Lakers to put on a black jersey. Bryant was quoted as saying that he helped design the jersey. It was difficult to spot the pattern on TV. The Warriors were wondering if they could do the same thing.

The City Edition can push the envelope. Maybe you don't succeed. People might dislike it. One year has passed. Everyone is capable of dealing with one year.

She decided to go with something simpler and more in line with the team's larger art collection.

She says that she thought of herself as a Warriors fan. I like wearing black. The design is new to her. She is waiting to hear from her fans today.

To be honest, I'm scared. Warriors fans and sports fans are very important to me. I'm touching a sacred object. There is a part of me that is happy. There is a part of the body that is not sure what will happen.

The team is eager to see how the jerseys look in game play, since they will shove some of the bigger flower out of view.

It's all times Eastern.

If you were going to wear it as part of your lifestyle, you're not going to put it in. The team explored lifting the flower higher on the jersey top, but ran into issues about fitting all the other required information.

Early in the process, Millet and her top deputy asked officials on the basketball operations side if they could run the general concept, which was a women's empowerment-themed jersey.

Millet says that they were checking this out. What will people think about this? Is it possible that we are also in our own minds about it? Is it something that's real? Will the players get along with it?

A video call was made with Curry. Millet says that he didn't blink. I liked it right away. It's wonderful.

He got to start working. The idea of playing off the Great Seal of the State of California was something she liked.

She is the first golden state warrior.

The shapes that intersect to form the Venus sign were included in some of the mockups.

The full 30 for 30 library and access to exclusive original series are included. If you sign up, you'll be able to unlocks everything that is available on Disney+.

They pitched three to Curry. Are your feelings going to be hurt when you show creative work to a group of people? Millet makes a statement. "We toldCurry that he had to tell us." He was candid.

Curry wasn't a big fan of the state-seal based design. The organization may revisit it down the road, though there was some concern about the shield itself.

Curry was shown the design. Curry told them that the fire was real. Curry confirmed them through a spokesman.

We had to return to the business side to sell it. They were not sure. We went to Stephen because of that. It makes people believe. You can say "This is the design" when you walk in. It's aggressive and we know it. We shared it with Stephen and he was into it.

The Warriors have uniform traditionalists. They want us to have two uniforms. I understand it. The NBA arena hallways have been turned into fashion runways by the players in some ways.

The players wear this when they walk in. We should meet them where they are.

One draft design had the flower pattern down the sides of the jerseys and the black faded into a gray to evoke the San Francisco fog.

In that version, the line-art rose had roots.

The draft appears to be a standard NBA jersey. It's nice, but there isn't anything shocking or unexpected about it. Some will concede that this jersey is unique.

She doesn't think she's ever felt like this before a piece was unveiled.

This is the biggest thing I have ever done. I have butterflies whenever I think about it.
