The early years of rocketry were not all about the rules of the game.

Some of the 20th century's most important aerospace pioneers were colorful, like Jack Parsons, a handsome young chemist who was involved with L. Ron Hubbard.

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California, which became NASA's lead center for robotic exploration, was established in part due to the interests of the man.

The lives and work of Frank and Theodore von Krmn, as well as the lives and work of other JPL co-founders, are the subject of a new podcasts. The engineers who were part of the Suicide squad were ambitious. The name was derived from their approach to rocket research.

There is a history of rockets.

M.G. Lord is an investigative journalist who has a personal connection to JPL.

M.G.'s father was an engineer at JPL in the 1960s, and she has an endless curiosity about the history of this crazy world.
