The new Brooklyn Nets coach tries to keep a positive attitude when he finds himself. It's a demeanor his players have responded to in the short term, and seem to be building on in the wake of a 112 85 demolition of the New York Knicks.

Several players and various team personnel members seemed genuinely happy that Vaughn, who had been an assistant coach for seven seasons, had his interim title removed and was officially named full time coach Wednesday.

Kevin said he was excited for him after he had a triple-double in the Nets' win. He puts in a lot of work. He cares a lot about the development of each player and the team as a whole. It's going to be fun to play for him. The guys have responded to how he wants them to play, so I'm looking forward to how we progress after this.

He didn't want to compare the differences between former coach Steve Nash and the current one, while noting that both are high- IQ guys. The Nets are hoping that the good vibes they've created will continue.

"We've been through a lot, we were struggling, but things have been clicking over the last week," he explained. We just wanted to come out and play better. We have been doing that. We don't want this to be a honeymoon stage for us, we want to keep pushing through, find ways to improve, and keep pushing from here.

The good vibes are rolling for the Nets, but it remains to be seen if Vaughn is the right answer. Nash tried to maintain a strong demeanor while he was the coach. As the Nets wait to see what happens with Irving's suspension, they've enjoyed the change of pace provided by Vaughn.

"I think we came out with the correct mind set," he said. The first group really set our will. We picked up full court and tried to put a mark on the game, but the guys just came off the bench and made a difference. Kevin's role is to get the group going, his ability to be a hub for us, rebound for us, come up with a triple-double, set the tone.

Sumner spoke for many within the organization when he talked about how he felt when he heard that Vaughn had been hired.

Sumner was happy for him. He's a good guy. Once they told us that, I was excited for him and ready to get to work.
