Caoimhin Kelleher saves Lewis Dobbin's penalty
Jurgen Klopp named an entirely changed starting 11 for the match against Derby

The holders progressed to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup thanks to the heroics of Caoimhin Kelleher, who saved three spot-kicks.

The man whose penalty gave them the trophy at Wembley in February was the one who had failed to find a breakthrough.

Lewis Dobbin was the only one who was able to kick the final kick to send the Reds through.

The hosts carried most of the attack.

Derby battled throughout, with skipper Max Bird cutting the visitors' best chance across the face of the goal at the start of the second half.

Since the start of the 2016 season, the Reds have not won a home game in the competition. It won't bother them a lot.

Big night for Derby

It was a reminder of Derby's past.

The huge number of supporters that traveled up from the east Midlands for the first time in more than a decade were determined to have fun.

The owner of the club was on the edge of his seat as the fans laid a wreath at the memorial.

You probably needed Clowes' £40m investment in Derby to get excited out of a slow opening period in which neither goalkeeper was tested.

The debutant should have kept his effort on target when he was in a central position eight yards out, but there wasn't much goalmouth action.

Joe Wildsmith, a former England Under-20s keeper, produced a series of great saves to keep the visitors level.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had a shot that was going for the corner but Wildsmith kept it out.

The home attack was more focused after the introduction of Roberto Firmino.

One brave save was made by Wildsmith. Derby battled through to penalties after Ben Doak threatened the visitors' goal.

When Wildsmith saved Bajectic's opening effort for the Reds and Firmino sent his shot over the bar, it looked like they would get knocked out in the first match of the tournament.

Firmino can look forward to a pre- Christmas fourth-round outing now that they've won.
