The pricing for the EV6 is going in the wrong direction, just like many other electric vehicles before it.

The price of the EV6 will go up by 16 percent, or $7,100, next year. The Light base model EV6 had a starting price of $42,695. The model has been discontinued and replaced with a different one.

The price of the EV6 is dangerously close to luxury vehicle levels of price, and that is not taking into account any dealer markups or options that would likely push the price north of $50,000. The 2023 EV6 is getting a pretty significant range boost, sokia isn't jacking up the price for nothing.

The EV sector is depressing due to inflation.

It's depressing that inflation in the EV sector is even worse. The number of midtier plug-in cars is growing smaller each day, while the number of luxury EV's is growing larger. The largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the US is transportation, and we need EV's to be cheaper in order to drive up sales.

The US government has put a lot of its eggs in one basket when it comes to fighting climate change, but it has also promoted EV adoption. If electric vehicles are too expensive for most people to afford, where does that leave the effort to prevent global temperatures from rising 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels?

We were promised affordable EV, but instead we are getting a lot of models that are not affordable. The F-150 is now starting at around $59,000. The Mustang Mach-E and the Ioniq 5 have both gone up in price. The prices of the entire lineup were increased by $6,000.

Some used EV prices are higher than the same model new.

There are many reasons why EV prices have gone up so much. The global chip shortage caused huge production problems for the industry and caused vehicle sales to fall. Because of high gas prices, car buyers snatched up all the EV's they could find at the dealer lots, causing a steep drop in inventory. It wasn't helped by decades-high inflation.

It is still possible to buy an affordable EV. There are still bargain-basement price stickers on the Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Bolt EV. I wouldn't be surprised if the Equinox EV ends up costing more than $30,000.

The prices are often higher when the customer leaves the lot. The Chevy Bolt sold for almost one-third more this summer at $34,874 on average. The leaf sold for an average of $34,000.

The Democrats in Congress have responded to the need for decarbonizing the transportation sector by passing the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes a $7,500 tax credit for new EV and a $4,000 credit for used ones, as long as they are produced in North America and use parts from the US

Thanks to strict supply chain requirements, the tax credit could disqualify many EV's. It is not known if it will have any impact on EV sales. California voters just rejected a ballot measure that would have raised taxes on high-income residents.

In the state, electric vehicles accounted for 20 percent of new car sales, the most in the nation, but it's not a good idea to expand the pool of car buyers who can afford them.
