The new version of the social network's app is now available for the iPad and iPhone. After taking over the company at the end of October, Musk promised features like verification, priority in replies, mentions, and search, and half as many ads, and now you can actually get the new subscription.

If you subscribe to the new package, your account instantly adds a verified check, but the other benefits aren't available yet. The blue checkmark is only available to accounts that are subscribed to the blue service on the mobile platform after November 9, 2022, according to the support page. It is not known when the new subscription will be available for users on the internet in countries where the blue subscription was already available. New accounts are not eligible to sign up for Blue at this time.

The $7.99 per month price is listed as a "limited time offer" on the form. Signing up on the web is not possible for the time being. Some users who have already subscribed to Blue are reporting that they have to subscribe again.

If you click on the check mark on the profile, you can see which account was verified by which method. My check mark says I was verified under the old criteria even though I have subscribed to the new Blue. legacy verified accounts also may be taken away at any time for any reason at all byTwitter If you don't subscribe to Blue, it's not clear if or when you'll lose your check mark.

While Musk has positioned paid verification as a way to increase trust in the platform, the idea has also come under criticism for possibly enabling the exactopposite, in part because it could theoretically let anyone pay to say they are the verified version of anyone else.

One way the company planned to deal with that problem was with Musk's announcement that impersonate accounts that didn't specify they were parodies would be permanently suspended. The company rolled back a new gray check mark and official label that was being tested on select accounts.

There was a false start on Saturday. Ahead of Musk's November 7th deadline, the app was updated with details of the new subscription, but an employee confirmed that it wasn't live at the time.

The Blue has changed a lot from what it used to be. After years of begging from users, the Blue has finally come up with a feature that allows users to edit their 140 character messages. The service had a cheaper price, but we should be grateful that the new Blue didn't cost $20, though given that "limited time offer" language, maybe the price will get there someday.

Legacy verified accounts have been added to the list.
