Customers who use free trials are included in the 80 million YouTube Music and Premium subscribers. The company is on track to become one of the top streaming music providers after increasing its subscribers by 30 million. 50 million Music and Premium subs were reported in September of 2011.

YouTube Premium gives subscribers access to ad-free videos, as well as access to all the perks of YouTube Music for $11 a month. In October, free users were asked to upgrade to Premium in order to view 4K videos. Users can now watch high-resolution videos without paying a premium. After the test ended, the company decided to raise the price of the family plan.

Despite the new milestone, it is still behind other services. A total of 195 million premium subscribers and 454 million monthly active users were revealed in the third quarter. In July, Apple stated that it had over 800 million paid subscriptions across the App Store, Apple TV, Apple Music, cloud services and its other businesses. The group has more than 80 million subscribers across its three apps.
