According to court documents, a Sri Lankan cricketer raped a woman while in Australia for the T20 World Cup, leaving her afraid for her life.

Gunathilaka is accused of taking off a condom during sex with the woman.

In an interview with police, the batter denied any violence.

Police argued that he is a flight risk and that he was refused bail.

The documents police relied on to oppose his bail were reported on Wednesday.

The police facts given to the court show that Mr Gunathilaka and the 29-year-old man were matched on the dating app.

They agreed to go out for drinks and dinner before coming back to the house of the person who made the complaint.

Mr Gunathilaka is accused of engaging in "forceful" sexual intercourse with the woman, which he is accused of doing once for up to 30 seconds.

Police say that the woman was afraid for her life and couldn't escape from the accused.

According to the documents, the woman asked Mr Gunathilaka to wear a condom, but he didn't.

The woman was clear that she didn't want to have sex without a condom or with someone she didn't know.

The next day, police say the woman told two friends what had happened, talked to a counsellor and went to her doctor.

She underwent a sexual assault forensic examination at the hospital and a brain Scan to check for any injuries that may have been caused by the alleged repeated choke.

In New South Wales, where the alleged incident occurred, a person must say or do something to indicate their consent for sex.

The removal of a condom without consent is a sexual assault offence.

Mr Gunathilaka has been suspended from all forms of the game and a panel has been set up to investigate.
