Fetterman said the race was for the future of every community in Pennsylvania.

Key Background

When it came to style and personality, the two candidates in one of the most closely watched toss up races could not have been further apart. Oz is a doctor and TV celebrity who didn't live in their state until December 2021. Fetterman, who wore a hooded sweatshirt and goatee on the campaign trail, was born and raised in West Reading, Pennsylvania, where he served as mayor for 13 years. He suffered a stroke days before the May primary that took him off the campaign trail for months and left him with issues with his hearing. Fetterman described his struggles as a way to empathise with everyday Pennsylvanians, while Oz cast him as not fit for office. In the final days before the election, prominent players from both parties were campaigning with the candidates in hopes of winning the contest that will determine which party controls the Senate. President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama were campaigning with Fetterman.

Big Number

It was a little bit over half a point. The number of points Oz led the polls by heading into Election Day was more than a 10 point shift from Fetterman.
