Beth Mead named BBC Women's Footballer of the Year 2022

The women's footballer of the year is voted on by the British Broadcasting Corporation.

He was runner up in the Ballon d'Or.

I don't believe I have processed it yet. It's a great honor for me.

"For me, these are nice trophies to get hold of, but again, I keep saying it and it's becoming a cliché now, but I wouldn't have got these without my team-mates throughout the season."

The Ballon d'Or winner was third and the runner up was second.

The five players nominated for the World Service award were from Germany, France, Lyon and Austria.

A large panel of experts involved in the game from all around the world, including coaches, players, administrators and journalists, were involved in selecting the list of fans to vote on.

  • 'Still a surreal feeling' - Mead on whirlwind year

Ellen White, the Lionesses' all-time leading scorer, said that the "sky is the limit for her" after presenting her with the award.

I think it's great that she's achieved so much in her career so far, and that she's focused on her performance, and that it's good for the England team.

In the Women's Super League last season, she scored 11 goals and provided eight assists, which was the most in the league.

After helping the Lionesses to win their first ever major trophy at the Euros, she was named player of the tournament and the first major title for the men's or women's team in 50 years.

She was the joint top scorer with Germany's Popp with six goals and was awarded the Golden Boot for her four assists.

It was an amazing feeling to win the competition and I think it will live with us for the rest of our lives.

With her club currently top of the WSL after winning all six matches, and she being the star of the show in October's 5-1 demolition of Lyon, it's easy to see why she's been so good this season.

It was a pleasure to play together for England and the club, according to the captain and team mate.

I have looked up to her. She's had a great year and I'm happy she's getting the recognition because these are the moments we play for.

When a forward is on fire, it's a good feeling for the team, because you know that as long as you play well enough the time will come or the moment will come. Over the last year, she has been a force of nature for England.
