After spending over eight months in prison on attempted murder and other gun-related charges, a former UFC champ has been granted bail.

According to the report by Raimondi, a judge in Santa Clara, California set bail at $1 million and ordered Velasquez to stay away from the shooting victims.

He was arrested for trying to shoot a former daycare employee in San Martin, California. Goularte is accused of molesting the boy.

Velazquez denied the charges.

He had his bail denied in the past. In March, it was reported that over 30 people wrote to a judge on his behalf, asking for him to allow him to post bail. Dana White, Scott Coker and Rey Mysterio were some of the people who advocated for the bail to be granted.

The judge cited Velasquez's clean prior criminal history and his status as a father as reasons to grant him bail.

In June, Velasquez filed a civil lawsuit against Goularte, accusing him of molesting and harassing his son. Goularte's mother and her husband were named as defendants in the lawsuit.

The case was continued by a Santa Clara judge. Goularte was charged with lewd acts with a minor under the age of 14.
