The man was granted $1 million bail after eight months in jail.
The former UFC champ is accused of trying to kill someone in Santa Clara County. Harry Goularte is accused of being chased down and shot at by Velasquez. Goularte is accused of sexually abusing a 4-year-old boy.
Mark Geragos said that Velasquez would have to wear a tracker and not come within 300 yards of the alleged victims.
Geragos said that it had been a long time since he last spoke to him. It's touching to watch him having it sink in with his wife.
The man had been in jail since February and had pleaded not guilty. He was granted bail by judge Arthur Bocanegra at the end of a pre- trial hearing, after being denied bail four times before. Goularte's step- father was shot by Velasquez when he fired into a vehicle. No serious injuries occurred.
After following Goularte's truck for 11 miles through the city of San Jose, Velasquez rammed the truck and fired a handgun into it, which carried Goularte, Bender and Goularte. He was hit with a bullet but did not sustain life threatening injuries.
According to a court document, Goularte took the boy into the bathroom of the daycare center and touched him. The child said Goularte told them not to tell anyone what happened. The child told police that Goularte went into the bathroom with other children.
Geragos said it was important for Bocanegra to hear his side of the story. He doesn't know when the trial will be, but he will be able to return to his hometown on Tuesday.
Geragos said that instead of listening to all the hyperbole and nonsense, they had a hearing with witnesses under oath.
