If you've ever joined a Zoom meeting from home or the office and wondered if you could do it in a movie theater, there's a solution to your problem.
The movie theaters are going to be turned into meeting rooms. The "Zoom Rooms" will be brought to AMC theaters in as many as 17 cities.
You will be able to book three-hour timeslots for meetings that can seat between 75 and 150 people depending on the theater you choose.
Adam Aron, Chairman and CEO of AMC Theatres, said in a press release that "AMC has an abundance of attractive theatres at centrallylocated venues in city after city after city, each with ample seating capacity, especially so during daytime hours on weekdays when most meetings take place." Our state-of-the-art sight and sound technology has made gathering in movie theatres one of the most popular out-of- home entertainment options in the US. We can now participate in the multi-billion market for corporate and other meetings as a result of the new Zoom Rooms at AMC.
It's possible that the company needs it. AMC reported climbing attendance and higher revenue from this point last year in its Q3 earnings call Tuesday, but it still posted a quarterly loss.
Increased remote work opportunities made it possible for companies to spread their workforces over a broader geographic range. Adding in the fact that office attendance has not fully rebounded in many major US cities and, who knows, you might just have your next all-hands in an AMC.
