Georgia moved up to the top spot in the College Football Playoff rankings after its win over Tennessee.
The Frogs moved up three spots into the fourth spot and will face the Longhorns on Saturday.
"They've got six wins over teams who are.500 or better," Boo Corrigan, the athletic director at NC State, was quoted as saying. We value victories.
Both Ohio State and Michigan were ranked in the top three.
Georgia moved to the top of the rankings as expected. In the victory over the Vols, the defending national champion held Tennessee's quarterback to 195 yards passing and zero touchdown.
As the top-ranked one-loss team, the Vols still have a chance to make the playoffs.
We're still early in this process, and Tennessee is a really good team, with big wins.
The highest ranked team from the conference is Oregon. USC, UCLA and Oregon all have a loss, but the committee has the highest slot for Oregon. USC and UCLA are both ranked in the top twelve.
Oregon has won eight games in a row. The overall body of work is being looked at. They've been really good.
If the Vols win out, they could make it into theCFP as a one-loss non- conference champion. Last season, the SEC had multiple teams make theCFP.
The move into the Top 4 is validation for the team. The committee had the Frogs in the top seven because they needed multiple fourth-quarter comebacks to stay perfect. The Frogs got a boost from losses by Tennessee, Alabama and Clemson, which helped them get back in the game against Texas Tech.
Despite losing to LSU in overtime, Alabama remained in the top 10. It's possible that LSU could be the first two-loss team to make the playoffs if it wins out in the SEC Championship game.
The team that lost to Notre Dame dropped from fourth to 10th. The Tigers need to win out and get some help to stay in the playoffs.
