By the time polls close on Tuesday, the balance of power in Congress may not be known.

Automatic recounts are required in several states. Several Republican candidates have already said they will challenge the results if they lose, setting the U.S. up for another round of legal battles and recounts reminiscent of the 2020 race in which former President Donald Trump still claims he won.

While election officials audited the results in Texas, Pennsylvania and Michigan, recounts were done in five other states.

In the states where recounts or audits are likely to be delayed, you can find them.

The Washington Post reported last week that Sen. Ron Johnson didn't say he would accept the results if he lost his seat.

He told reporters that they would see what happened. Is something going to happen on election day? Democrats have something up their sleeves.

Is the recount done automatically? State law says that Wisconsin doesn't have automatic recounts.

What is the request for it? If the margin is less than 1% of the total votes cast, the candidate can request a recount. The requesting candidate needs to be within 40 votes of the winner if less than 4,000 votes were cast.

The candidates have until 5 p.m. on the third day after the result is announced to provide a statement, verified under oath, that they believe there was a mistake.

What is the source of funding? If the margin is greater than 0.25, the candidate pays a fee. If the difference is greater than 10 votes, the candidate pays for the recount.

The Trump campaign paid $3 million for a recount in Wisconsin, and around $545,000 was returned after the count.

The Democratic candidate for governor did not concede the race until after the election. Both candidates have pledged to accept the results of the election for the same office.

The Washington Post reported that Senate candidates Herschel Walker (R-GA) and Raphael Warnock (D-GA) have also done so.

Within six days of the initial certification, they have to file.

The candidate needs to give at least $25 for each precinct.

$125 is required for every precinct if the margin is more than.05%. The candidate has to deposit $250 per precinct if the number of votes separates the winner from the petition.

If the recount shows a fraud or mistake that changes the outcome of the election, the candidate is given a refund.

In an interview with CNN, Lake, who is endorsed by Trump and campaigning on false claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election, wouldn't say whether she would accept the results of her election. She said she would accept the outcome of the election.
