The National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory that a storm warning is in effect for northwestern Bahamas. There is a tropical storm warning for three islands. There is a watch in effect for the Atlantic coast of Florida from Brevard County to Broward County. A storm surge watch has been issued from Florida to Georgia.
Nicole was predicted to be wobbly as it approaches Florida and crosses into the northwest Gulf of Mexico. The time is 7p.m. It had top winds of 45 mph (75 kph) on Monday and was centered about 715 miles east- north of the northwestern Bahamas. There was a storm moving to the northwest.
The advisory said to not focus on the exact track of Nicole since it is expected to be a large storm with dangers extending well to the north of the center.
The governor of Florida declared a state of emergency for 34 counties in the path of the storm.
"While this storm does not appear to be as strong as it could be, I urge all Floridians to be prepared and to listen to announcements from local emergency management officials."

Large parts of the state have yet to recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Ian.
Along Florida's central Atlantic coast, nervous county managers warned residents that the tropical storm could bring more flooding and beach erosion only weeks after Ian wreaked havoc.
Daytona Beach residents were advised to consider moving to a safer location as soon as possible.
The area could get up to 8 inches of rain and winds strong enough to cause flooding, along with more permanent damage.
Judge said that the storm could cause more coastal erosion, which could be devastating to the beachfront properties affected by Hurricane Ian.
One of the few Florida counties where driving is allowed on the beach is Daytona. Vehicles weren't allowed on the sand until the storm passed. Repairs to the sea walls damaged by Ian will not be possible after Monday because the tides will be too high. Building inspectors were keeping a close eye on the structural integrity of the oceanfront homes that were damaged by Ian.
Jessica Fentress said that the potential for impacts is very significant. They are calling for a swell event on top of high tide.
The locations for the distribution of the bags were open on Monday.
Alan Harris, Seminole County's emergency manager, said that the county was facing the possibility of getting 7 inches of rain in some areas from Danielle.
There are large piles of debris on the roads and in yards left over from Ian.

A subtropical storm has characteristics of both tropical and extratropical storms. They tend to have a bigger wind field than the other way around. As the storm develops, it is possible that it could become a tropical system.
