There was a backlash over the naming and pricing of the graphics card. According to a well-known leaker, the "unlaunched" graphics card will be back in January as the RTX 4070 Ti.
The original RTX 4080 12 gigabytes will be replaced by the new RTX 4070 Ti on January 23, 2023. The RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 needed 450 watt of power, and the RTX 4090 did the same thing.
It would make a lot of sense to change the name of the RTX 4080 to the RTX 4070 Ti. When the 16GB model was different, it was criticized for being labeled as an RTX 4080 by the company. The base clock of the RTX 4080 was supposed to be 2.31 GHz, but it was increased to 2.61 GHz. The base clock of the 16GB RTX 4080 is 2.21 GHz, which is more powerful than the base clock of the previous generation of the Turing architecture.
The price of the next-gen RX 7900 XTX and XT will be released on December 13th. It's hard to imagine a $899 RTX 4070 Ti being launched by the company if the new cards come close to the top cards. The RTX 4080 16GB model is going to be available next week.
