The redesign of Amazon Photos on the Android platform brings it in line with a similar update that was rolled out to the iPad and iPod touch almost a year ago.

Amazon Photo users can search a photo gallery from the home screen, with navigation options all being within a thumb's reach. Swiping up within the Amazon Photos gallery on your device will open a new control panel where users can find features to choose from.

Clicking on the Amazon Smile logo at the top left-hand corner of the gallery page will give users access to options such as customer accounts, uploads, and prints, as well as the "Paper airplane" button on the top right will take users to a page where images and videos can be

Amazon Prime subscribers have access to free, unlimited full-resolution photo storage and 5GB of video storage on Amazon Photos, which can be easily showcased on devices like the Fire TV. These changes will be reflected in the Amazon Photos app.

The new features give Amazon Photos a much-needed refresh to compete with other services, which doesn't offer a comparable free storage tier. In the same time that it has taken Amazon to push the old updates to their devices, Google has pushed out several updates of its own, including improvements to libraries and sharing, as well as a redesign of Memories.
