Video transcription, separate topics in large groups, and other new features have been added to the popular chat platform.

The new voice-to-text transcription tool can be used to read video messages from friends when you don't have time to watch the video.

Telegram Premium subscribers have exclusive access to video messaging transcription, which is similar to the existing voice message transcription, but with perks like faster downloads, no ads, and a larger maximum file upload limit.

Topics in Groups allows groups with over 200 members to create separate areas for more specific chats. Users can choose to get notifications from topics and shared media settings that are not part of the larger group. Telegram will be introducing a set of tools for small groups later this year.

There is a new digital asset in this update called Collectible Usernames. Telegram users can now assign multiple collectible usernames, which are similar to basic usernames, except that they can be less than five characters long.

The Collectable Usernames can be purchased and sold through a new platform called the Fragment network.

Telegram's Night Mode has been changed for theiOS app to make colors more balanced with better blurring effects as users scroll in chats and the chat list, and Telegram Premium users have access to 12 new emoji packs that can be used in messages and caption or set as statuses.

The Halloween themed v9.1.0 update was held up in the review process of the App Store.

According to Durov, it takes at least 7 days for any meaningful product update to reach the App Store. Durov has been critical of Apple's App Store review process.

Minor changes to Telegram's interface can be found on the developers' website. Telegram is available on the App Store for iPad and iPhone.
