Air Canada Aeroplan has an emphasis on adding partners, which is one of my favorites. Aeroplan has more airlines partners than any other program. Several partners have been added in the past couple of years.

Aeroplan has a new airline partner that I am really excited about. It's probably more excited than I should be.

Air Canada & Bamboo Airways partnership details

Aeroplan members will be able to earn and redeem points for travel on Air Canada and Bamboo Airways with the launch of a loyalty program partnership. I wanted to talk about Bamboo Airways for people who aren't familiar with it.

What is Bamboo Airways?

There is a new airline in Vietnam that was founded in the last year. The airline has 30 planes, including brand new Boeing 787-9s, which feature solid onboard products.

The airline has a large route network within Asia, as well as a number of long haul flights. Domestic and international route maps can be found below.

There are no other opportunities to redeem partner rewards points on Bamboo Airways, so this is exciting. I think the choice is between oneworld and Star Alliance since Vietnam Airlines is part of Sky Team.

Redeem Aeroplan points on Bamboo Airways

Air Canada Aeroplan can be used on all Bamboo Airways flights. There are a few things to keep in mind.

• Bamboo Airways awards follow Aeroplan’s standard partner award pricing chart
• Aeroplan members are able to book Bamboo Airways flights online at aircanada.com, or via the call center
• Bamboo Airways flights are combinable with flights operated by Air Canada and other international airline partners (so you could connect within Asia as part of a larger award)
• While there are no carrier imposed surcharges, the standard 39 CAD partner booking fee applies

The award charts are both region and distance based.

If you want to fly Bamboo Airways in Asia, you should look at the Aeroplan award chart.

If you want to fly Bamboo Airways between Asia and Europe, you need to look at the Aeroplan award chart.

If you want to fly Bamboo Airways between Asia and Europe, you should look at the Aeroplan award chart between the Pacific and Americas regions.

If you want to book a stop on your itinerary for more than 24 hours, you can get an additional 5,000 points.

If you have transferrable points, Air Canada Aeroplan is a great option. The Aeroplan Credit Card is a lucrative card in the US.

Earn Aeroplan points on Bamboo Airways

Points earning opportunities can be found between Air Canada Aeroplan and Bamboo Airways. Aeroplan members can earn points on bamboo Airways flights.

Aeroplan members earn points based on a percentage of the distance traveled. Bamboo Airways flights do not count towards elite status.

This was the partner Aeroplan was teasing

Aeroplan teased its new airline partner last week.

They serve a particular, amazing aspirational destination and are the only one serving it on a scheduled basis with jet aircraft. In fact, the aircraft they use on this route is a fleet type they added specifically to serve this market!

The airline was called Bamboo Airways. The islands of Con Dao were specifically served by the Embraer 190 fleet type. The addition of the Embraer 190 allows the airline to provide the only scheduled jet service there.

You stumped me, Aeroplan.

Air Canada Aeroplan members will be able to earn and redeem points with Bamboo Airways. I am excited about this partnership and ready to start planning a Bamboo Airways adventure.

Bamboo Airways doesn't have airline partners so these kinds of partnerships add a lot of value.
