Abbas is one of the leaders of a global network that targets victims around the world in schemes designed to steal hundreds of millions of dollars.

Abbas' father was a taxi driver, according to a Nigerian driver who knew Abbas as a child. Seye said that Abbas became involved in cybercrime as a "Yahoo boy" as he grew older.
