It is unclear why Cruz, who has no formal connection to the Astros beyond spending most of his childhood in Houston, was in the parade.
The lieutenant governor of Texas rode on a humvee one vehicle ahead of Cruz.
According to reports, both were welcomed with open arms. Cruz, who wore Astros colors, was shown waving at the crowd, smiling, and giving a thumbs up, despite several fans giving him thumbs down and booing at him. Patrick was the subject of jeers after floating by in a humvee.

Cruz offered a different perspective on the celebrations with his own message.
The Astros finished off their series against Philadelphia with three straight victories, including two in Philadelphia, and were celebrating Monday. It was Houston's fourth trip to the Fall Classic in the past six years.
The Astros last title was controversial because of the sign-stealing scandal, but no such controversy is looming over this iteration of the squad.
